Overview

Meraki Wellness is seeking an exceptional Head of Fitness & Integrative Wellbeing who is excited to be part of a company with heart.  The Head of Fitness & Integrative Wellbeing will support all pre-opening requirements alongside the owners of Meraki Wellness and Spa management. Once open, this role will lead the fitness team and be an active member of the same department. This role will oversee all day-to-day operations on the fitness floor and lead by example by holding creative fitness classes, personal training sessions and fitness assessments for members and guests. A small and exclusive membership where privacy and discretion is paramount.

Career History Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in fitness management at a senior management level.
• Certified in personal training and fitness coaching, with at least one qualification in a further health or wellness modality such as sports massage, yoga, or nutrition.
• An interested, active member of the Global Fitness & Wellness Industry
• Ability to understand and integrate a diverse range of wellness concepts to gain maximum health results for guests, including fitness, alternative therapies, diagnostic tools, education, and nutrition.
• Qualifications and experience in health, safety and first aid.

Experience

• A team-orientated, driven, organised, solutions-focused leader who is kind, charismatic and positive.
• Strong operator – highly competent in the daily running of a 5* fitness and wellness operation.
• Confident and experienced in evaluating the quality and relevance of fitness-related experiences.
• Detailed oriented. Passionate about exceptional guest service – ideally Forbes 5* experience.
• 5* personal presentation – an outstanding example for the team and those embarking on a wellness lifestyle.
• Confident and experienced in financial reporting and budgeting for their specific department.
• Confident with HR responsibilities and management
• Confident with stock and retail management.
• Excellent commercial acumen – competent in financial reporting and budgeting.
• Ability to keep calm under pressure and perform well.
• Consistently endeavours to drive revenues and control costs.
• A strong communicator. Fluent in English – excellent verbal and written skills.
• Proficient in sales and marketing. Excellent knowledge of the global wellness and fitness industry.
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Training and team-building skills.

Desirable

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s in a relevant exercise science discipline
• Experience with Spa & Fitness Software
• Experience in a luxury Private Members’ Club

Responsibilities

Fitness

• Create and implement The Meraki Wellness concept and programs with health, happiness, vitality, and longevity at the heart of the experience. This will include developing fitness programs, gym experiences, fitness classes, personal training protocols and schedules.
• Conduct regular fitness and wellness workshops for Meraki Wellness employees.
• Build and maintain good relationships with all internal departments, external contractors, and companies relevant to the successful operation of the fitness and wellness programs.
• Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with the global fitness community.
• Promote positive employer-employee relationships. Promote high levels of morale, motivation, and performance.

2024 Goals for Meraki Wellness Head of Fitness & Integrative Wellbeing

• To create, integrate and develop a unique fitness offering for Meraki Wellness.

• Be responsible for managing and maintaining the gym and all fitness facilities and equipment.
• To lead and be part of the fitness team. Carry out one-on-one and group PT sessions, hold fitness classes and perform fitness assessments for members and guests.
• Create, implement, and oversee the relevant operational procedures to ensure all employees deliver a personal and professional service befitting the Meraki Wellness vision and values.
• Promote and uphold the philosophy and culture of Meraki Wellness for all employees and guests.
• Maximise guest satisfaction in keeping with the Meraki Wellness standards through planning, organising, directing, and supervising the fitness team.

Remuneration: 

• Basic Salary – TAX-FREE – 45 to 60K US Dollars, depending on experience
• Plus, Target Led Bonus

Additional Requirements

The above is a description of the general duties of the Head of Fitness & Integrative Wellbeing role. Other duties may be required depending on the operation or at the request of the Meraki Wellness Senior Management Team. Given the nature of the industry, all employees at Meraki Wellness must be willing to work shift hours, including evenings, weekends, bank, and public holidays when the operation requires it.
